Het Mirakel

Het Mirakel van Amsterdam

The Miracle of Amsterdam

Scattered throughout Amsterdam are three valuable, silver St Andrew's crosses - hidden until someone finds and takes them.

How? Based on a treasure map in the shape of a mysterious black book. That's all you need to find a fortune...

'Het Mirakel van Amsterdam' is a so-called armchair treasure hunt for adults, which takes place in the old city center of Amsterdam and leads to 3 real treasures.

The book is for sale in my shop sold out.

It was limited to 100 copies, all signed and numbered.

The Story

In the distant past, Adriaen Hoet wanders through the city of Amsterdam. He crosses streets, alleys, gates and courts full of guilt and penance, hope and redemption. The latter is what he is looking for on this pilgrimage. Ever since he stole three silver St. Andrew's crosses from a city coat of arms, his conscience has been nagging at him. He sought wealth, but did not find it in stolen silver. On his wanderings he hides the silver crosses for Amsterdammers who deserve them. If you follow him, hear him out and listen carefully, you can find the crosses and free Adriaen from his guilt.

How does it work?

The Miracle of Amsterdam is a bound black sketchbook containing a combination of a scavenger hunt and a treasure map. Based on the drawings, you look for landmarks and wander through the old city center and come to places, each with its own story. In the drawings and during the walk there are all kinds of clues that ultimately lead to the three locations of the silver crosses.

When does it start/end

The treasure was hidden in September 2023. From that moment on, the three crosses can be found by everyone, on three different spots in Amsterdam. The hunt ends when all three crosses are found. The book can then still be used as a beautifully illustrated guide to walk through the city of Amsterdam.

Is there any fine print?

Not really. There are 3 real silver crosses hidden there. If they are found or accidentally cleared away by the unsuspecting city cleanup, they are gone. In that regard, there is no guarantee that there will be anything left. But it was once there.

Each cross has quality marks and a maker's mark and can be recognized and traced.

The book also says: they are there for the taking. This means that there is no need to dig, demolish or break into. They are hidden in a public place in the city.
